Archiving & Digital Preservation Policy
The International Research Journal of Innovation in Science and Technology (IRJIST) is committed to ensuring the long-term preservation, accessibility, and availability of all published scholarly content. The journal recognizes the importance of maintaining a permanent academic record and adopts appropriate measures to preserve published articles and associated metadata.
1. Purpose
The purpose of this policy is to ensure that all content published by IRJIST remains accessible to researchers, institutions, libraries, and the scholarly community for the long term, even in the event of technical failures, platform migrations, or organizational changes.
2. Online Availability
All articles published in IRJIST are made freely available through the journal's official website under the Open Access Policy. Published content remains accessible without subscription or access restrictions.
3. Digital Preservation Measures
IRJIST employs the following measures to support long-term digital preservation:
- Publication and management of journal content through the Open Journal Systems (OJS) platform.
- Regular website and database backups to prevent accidental data loss.
- Preservation of article metadata, publication records, and associated files.
- Maintenance of stable article URLs and DOI records whenever possible.
- Secure storage of published manuscripts and journal archives.
4. DOI-Based Persistence
IRJIST assigns Digital Object Identifiers (DOIs) to eligible published articles through Crossref. DOI registration provides a persistent and internationally recognized identifier that facilitates reliable citation, discoverability, and long-term access to scholarly content.
In the event of website restructuring or migration, reasonable efforts will be made to maintain DOI resolution and update metadata records accordingly.
5. Platform Migration and Continuity
Should the journal migrate to a new publishing platform, server, domain, or hosting environment, all reasonable efforts will be undertaken to preserve and transfer published content, metadata, and archives to ensure uninterrupted access to the scholarly record.
6. Preservation of the Scholarly Record
IRJIST is committed to preserving the integrity of the scholarly record. Published articles shall not be removed except in exceptional circumstances involving legal requirements, ethical violations, or retraction decisions. Where necessary, corrections, retractions, or notices of concern shall be issued in accordance with the journal's editorial and publication ethics policies.
7. Responsibility
The Editorial Office and Publisher of IRJIST are responsible for implementing and maintaining appropriate preservation practices, backup procedures, and content management systems to safeguard the journal's published materials.
8. Policy Review
This Archiving & Digital Preservation Policy may be reviewed and updated periodically to reflect technological developments, industry standards, and the evolving needs of scholarly communication.
